New Bruins forward Oliver Wahlstrom had a viral moment at TD Garden at age 9
He made SportsCenter and CBS Mornings.
The next time newly acquired forward Oliver Wahlstrom electrifies the Bruins faithful, it won’t be his first time putting on a show for the TD Garden crowd.
Back in 2009, when Wahlstrom was 9, he went viral for showing off some serious moves in a Mini 1 on 1 competition at TD Garden. Wahlstrom, a member of the Portland Jr. Pirates from Maine, made SportsCenter and CBS Mornings after a dazzling display.
His Wikipedia page even reads: “Wahlstrom scored a highlight goal at the age of 9 during a shootout contest before a Boston Bruins game in 2009.”
Wahlstrom, now 24, went on to play for Boston College. He spent six years with the New York Islanders before the Bruins claimed him Saturday.
“Just from knowing the player a bit, watching him the last few years,” Bruins coach Joe Sacco told reporters, “we’ve had a lot of games against the Islanders … the one thing that sticks in my mind is that he has a good shot, you know, a guy that can score some goals.”
