Several familiar faces returned to TD Garden ice for Tuesday’s matchup between the Bruins and Canucks.
Jake DeBrusk and Danton Heinen, who both signed with Vancouver during the offseason, made their return to Causeway Street on Tuesday. Another ex-Bruin in Derek Forbort also signed with the Canucks during the offseason, but did not play due to injury.
Shortly after the first media timeout during Tuesday’s game, both DeBrusk and Heinen were honored with tributes on the TD Garden video board.
The clip featured some of the top highlights from both skaters during their tenures in a black-and-gold sweater, including DeBrusk’s two-goal performance in Game 7 against the Maple Leafs in 2018 and his two tallies in Boston’s Winter Classic victory at Fenway Park in 2023.
After the video tribute concluded, both DeBrusk and Heinen saluted the TD Garden crowd after receiving an ovation.

This is not the first time that Heinen has faced the Bruins in an opposing sweater, as he played for the Ducks and Penguins from 2019-23.
But DeBrusk is in uncharted territory, as he played the first eight seasons of his NHL career with Boston. Over 484 career games in a black-and-gold sweater, DeBrusk scored 143 goals and posted 279 total points.
“Honestly, there’s probably a couple of guys who will take some punishment out on me for all the times I was so annoying for them, I guess,” DeBrusk said Monday of facing off against his former teammates. “You never know.
“It’s not something I’m thinking of, but it will be funny to hear a couple of guys chirp me. It’s definitely a weird situation for myself, but in saying that, I get it, they’re doing everything they can to win, and so are we.”
It didn’t take very long for DeBrusk to exact revenge against his former team, as the winger knocked home a power-play tally in the second period.

DeBrusk has been solid so far during his first season with Vancouver, tallying six goals and 14 points in 20 games.
