The Boston Bruins escaped Montreal with two points on Thursday night thanks to some overtime heroics from Jake DeBrusk.

The Bruins’ winger called game for Boston just 25 seconds into overtime — converting on a 2-1 rush with Brad Marchand to secure a 2-1 win for the Bruins at Bell Centre.

You can watch DeBrusk’s goal below:

Hampus Lindholm jumpstarted the play in Boston’s own zone, pinning Montreal blueliner Mike Matheson to the boards and pushing the puck out toward Marchand en route to the odd-man rush.

After taking the feed from Marchand, DeBrusk slipped the puck past Montreal goalie Sam Montembeault with a backhand shot while gliding through the crease.

“It was obviously kind of a scramble — I thought I was gonna get roasted wide by the defenseman,” DeBrusk said on the NESN broadcast of his goal, adding: “It was a two-on-one and I know just to get to the right areas and it’s gonna come across. So it was a great pass and just happy to finish it for the boys.”

DeBrusk has been heating up since his spot was secured on Boston’s roster after the trade deadline — scoring two goals, one assist, and adding 12 shots on goal in the three games since rosters were set on Friday.
