Bruins add Swedish defenseman, Czech forward in NHL Draft
The Bruins made their first selection in the 2018 NHL Draft in Saturday morning’s second round, using the No. 57 pick on defenseman Axel Andersson.

Anderson, 6 feet and 179 pounds, is an 18-year-old from Jarna, Sweden. He played for Djungardens J20 in the Swedish Elite League system and for the U-18 team in the most recent World Junior Championships. He had six goals, 25 assists and 31 points in 42 games for Djurgardens, and a 0-2–2 line in seven World Junior games.
Boston took Czech forward Jakub Lauko at No. 77 in the third round.
Lauko (6-0, 179) is a left-shot center/wing. He was ranked 20th among European skaters by NHL CSS, and 45th by TSN.
In the fourth round (119th overall) Boston selected center Curtis Hall, who is headed to Yale. Hall, from Princeton, NJ, was ranked 60th among North American skaters by CSS and 119th overall by HockeyProspect.com.
The right-shot pivot with size (6-3, 201), he put up 13-18–31 stats in 54 games last year with the USHL’s Youngstown Phantoms. He had a strong showing at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup with the US U18s last August, with three goals and four points in four games.
The sixth-round pick of the Bruins (177th overall) was Dustyn McFaul, a defenseman from Pickering of the Ontario Junior Hockey League. McFaul (6-2, 188) will play at Clarkson.
