Bruins acquire forward Tommy Wingels from Chicago

The Bruins added depth to their forwards by acquiring Tommy Wingels from Chicago for a conditional 2019 fifth-round pick. The pick will become a fourth-rounder if the Bruins win one round in the playoffs or re-sign Wingels.

Wingels will join Brian Gionta as bottom-six insurance. The 29-year-old played five-plus seasons with the San Jose Sharks, who traded him to Ottawa in January 2017. The Blackhawks signed him as a free agent last July. The right-shot Wingels had 7 goals and 5 assists in 57 games for the Blackhawks this season while averaging 11:20 of ice time per outing. In 430 career games, he has 60 goals and 78 assists.
