Key offseason dates for the Bruins

Let the countdown begin.

For all but two NHL teams, the offseason has begun. The Boston Bruins’ offseason has been a little bit longer than fans may have liked over the past two years, but as of now, the countdown can begin for the Black and Gold to return to the ice. On Tuesday, the Bruins announced the start dates of their rookie camp, training camp, and preseason schedule.

  • Thursday, September 15 – Start of rookie camp
  • Thursday, September 22 – Start of main camp
  • Friday, September 23 – On-ice practice begins

The press release stated that the times and locations would be announced at a later date. Eleven days after the start of rookie camp, the Bruins return to TD Garden for their first game since a season-ending 6-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators on April 9th, kicking off the 7-game preseason with a matchup against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Here’s the full preseason schedule:

  • Monday, September 26th – Columbus Blue Jackets @ Boston Bruins (TD Garden, Boston, MA, 7 p.m.)
  • Wednesday, September 28th – Detroit Red Wings @ Boston Bruins (TD Garden, Boston, MA, 7 p.m.)
  • Friday, September 30th – Boston Bruins @ Detroit Red Wings (Joe Louis Arena, Detroit, MI, 7 p.m.)
  • Saturday, October 1st – Boston Bruins @ Philadelphia Flyers (Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia, PA, 7 p.m.)
  • Tuesday, October 4th – Boston Bruins vs. Montreal Canadiens (Videotron Center, Quebec City, Canada, 7 p.m.)
  • Thursday, October 6th -Boston Bruins @ Columbus Blue Jackets (Nationwide Arena, Columbus, OH, 7 p.m.)
  • Saturday, October 8th – Philadelphia Flyers @ Boston Bruins (TD Garden, Boston, MA, 5 p.m.)

Three home games, three away games, and one neutral ice game in Quebec City, Patrice Bergeron’s home town.
