Brad Marchand boiled over in the Bruins’ 6-4 loss to the Blue Jackets on Monday night.

With 4:16 remaining in the contest, Marchand, who finished the game with four shots and no points, fired the puck into the corner in apparent frustration, and was given a 10-minute misconduct for playing the puck with a high stick in the offensive zone.

Marchand had words with the referees after the call. According to The Boston Globe, goalie Tuukka Rask had to restrain Marchand after he left the ice. And the 27-year-old winger slashed his stick against the stick rack on his way to the locker room.

Marchand was terse with reporters after the game. Via a transcript from NESN’s Zack Cox, the winger answered four questions about the penalty with a total of six words.

Despite the misconduct penalty, Loui Eriksson gave the Bruins hope with a late goal, closing the Blue Jackets’ lead to 6-5. But with just over two minutes left, Dalton Prout scored on an empty net, ending the frustrating evening for the Bruins.
