In the hours before first NHL Draft at the helm of the Bruins, general manager Don Sweeney showed he’s not one to shy away from bold moves.

Ahead of the 2015 draft, Sweeney shipped defenseman Dougie Hamilton to Calgary for a trio of picks. Not long after that, he moved Milan Lucic to Los Angeles for a first-round pick, a backup goaltender, and a prospect.

The flurry of moves meant Sweeney began the 2015 draft on Friday with an arsenal of picks – 10 – to use over seven rounds. Rather than swapping those picks to move up or down in the draft order or to obtain veteran players, the first-year GM used all 10 picks, including back-to-back-to-back selections in the middle of the first round.

For better or worse, the Bruins are shaping up to be a very different team in 2015-2016 than they were this past season.
