Even the Stanley Cup gets X-rayed at the airport
The most famous trophy in sports isn’t exempt from an airport screening
With the Chicago Blackhawks leading the Stanley Cup Final 3-2, Lord Stanley’s Cup will be in the United Center on Monday night for Game 6, meaning the century old trophy had to make its way to Chicago through TSA X-ray screening.
Needless to say, the sight of the Cup going through airport security makes for an interesting image, though it also shows just how protected the trophy is on its travels, as seen in the photos below by the Hockey Hall of Fame’s Philip Pritchard.

The Conn Smythe Trophy, awarded to the Stanley Cup playoffs MVP, also made it through security unscathed.

The Tampa Bay Lightning hope to send the Cup back through airport security by forcing a winner-take-all Game 7.
