Bruins sign Providence College forward Noel Acciari
A recent NCAA champion is on his way to the Boston Bruins.
Providence College forward Noel Acciari has signed an entry-level contract with the Bruins, the team announced on Monday. ESPN’s John Buccigross and the Providence Journal’s Mark Divver had reported the news last week.
A native of Johnston, Rhode Island, Acciari has spent the past three seasons with the Friars, scoring 32 goals with 33 assists in 113 games. As a junior in 2014-15, Acciari served as a team co-captain and tallied 15 goals and 17 assists, helping PC to the hockey program’s first ever NCAA tournament championship. For his efforts, Acciari was named the NCAA East Regional Most Outstanding Player after scoring two goals and adding an assist in PC’s regional wins over Miami (Ohio) and Denver that put the Friars in the Frozen Four for the first time since 1985.
Acciari is the third NCAA free agent to sign with the Bruins since March; the B’s inked UMass forward Frank Vatrano and Miami (Ohio) forward Austin Czarnik to entry-level contracts on March 13 and April 1, respectively. Both players reported to the Providence Bruins after signing; Vatrano scored one goal in five games, while Czarnik assisted on two goals in three games with the Bruins’ AHL affiliate this season.
