Bruins 2-1 Loss to the Vancouver Canucks in GIFs
The Bruins lost to the Canucks in their first game back from a lengthy road trip, despite outshooting Vancouver 41-28.
The first goal of the game was Boston’s only goal and came early in the first period from an unlikely source. After being a healthy scratch for two games, Daniel Paille returned to the lineup and netted his second goal of the season and first goal since November.

The Canucks responded just over two minutes later with a goal from Ryan Stanton.

Matt Bartkowksi got some help from a referee after his skate blade came loose during play.

Tuukka Rask played well, stopping 26 of 28 shots and making some crucial saves such as this one on Hansen in the second period.

The Bruins got the short end of the stick in a play that should have clearly been a penalty shot when the Canucks defender covered the puck with his glove in the crease, but it was overlooked by the referees.

The Bruins still had many chances to tie it, including more than a dozen shots on four power plays with sustained pressure. They were unable to beat Lack 47 times thanks to his great play and some luck, such as when Reilly Smith fanned on the shot while wide open in front of the net.

The Canucks also got some quick whistles at opportune times, such as after this Ryan Spooner shot resulting from a turnover.

Zack Kassian broke the tie halfway through the third period to give Vancouver a 2-1 lead. That score would hold as the Bruins were unable to beat Lack more than once in 41 shots and generally outplaying the Canucks.
