Report: Bruins Receiving Calls About Malcolm Subban

Would the Bruins consider trading their top goaltending prospect if the right deal came along?
Appearing on TSN’s “Insider Trading” on Thursday, TSN’s Darren Dreger said that Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli has been receiving calls about the availability of goaltender Malcolm Subban, but unless the Bruins are blown out of the water, it doesn’t look like he will be going anywhere.
“Teams [are] looking for goaltending, [and] he’s having a very good year in the American Hockey League with Providence,” Dreger said. “But you can call all you want; the Bruins are not interested in trading Malcolm Subban unless they get a very, very good young prospect or a young player back in return. Again, this is a deal [that] if Pete Chiarelli was going to seriously going to consider it, he’d consider it around draft time in the summer.”
The 21-year-old was drafted by the Bruins with the No. 24 overall pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. He’s the younger brother of Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban, who ranks as Public Enemy No. 1 for many Bruins fans.
Subban played very well in his first season with the Providence Bruins in 2013-14, posting a 15-10-5 record with a 2.31 goals against average with a .920 save percentage in 33 total games. His record in 22 games with Providence this season isn’t stellar – just 9-10-2 – but his 2.47 GAA and .921 save percentage are still solid.
Subban was called up to Boston and dressed as the backup goaltender for four games this past month, but did not see any ice time.
