This game was lousy but featured some great hits. It was also pretty lousy to watch as a Bruins’ fan.

The Bruins were shut out in a 2-0 loss to the Canadiens in which they were without Chris Kelly, Brad Marchand, and David Krejci. They were unable to generate offense in the absence of their missing forwards, and when they did get chances, Carey Price was there to shut the door.

Montreal opened the scoring on the power play midway through the first period with an Andrei Markov shot through several screens.

Gregory Campbell, in an effort to get his team going as well as settle an existing score with Dale Weise, dropped the gloves shortly after the goal.

The second Canadiens’ goal came in the second period after the Bruins offensive rush fell apart due to a poor pass by Carl Soderberg. Rushing back the other way, Tomas Plekanec got the goal, and Brendan Gallagher got his second assist of the game.

The game was very physical throughout, with things boiling over more and more in the third period as the Bruins built some increasing offensive pressure. Tuukka Rask decided he had had enough at one point, leading to a Torey Krug fight with Alex Galchenyuk.

In lieu of goals scored, at least many hits were thrown. But sadly, the Bruins suffered yet another loss to the Canadiens.
