Did the Bruins win? Did Tuukka Rask get a shutout?

The Bruins defeated the Blues 2-0, improving to 6-0 in their last six home games. It was Tuukka Rask’s first shutout of the season. With 33 saves on the night, Rask was by far the number one star and played his best game of the season.

The Bruins only had 17 shots on net in the game against a team that has gone 10-1 in their last 11 games. Boston’s first goal came from Patrice Bergeron on a turnover by Ian Cole.

The Bruins added to their lead in the second period when Torey Krug got his third goal of the season from Matt Bartkowski and Loui Eriksson. Bartkowski, who played well, notched his first point of the season.

Bartkowski also played well defensively. He broke up a Vladimir Tarasenko breakaway among his handful of strong plays.

Bartkowski’s good play was significant given Adam McQuaid left the game early in the second period after blocking a shot.

Late in the second period, Matt Fraser had a goal called off for alleged goaltender interference, although replay shows that the puck was already going in off of Fraser’s body before he made contact with goaltender Brian Elliott.

The game was physical, with tons of great, clean hits.

In the end, Rask’s great play in net sealed the deal for the Bruins in a very important game. He even made great saves on his own defenders, such as this third period beauty on a rebound that hit Dougie Hamilton.
