Not many things went the Bruins’ way during their two-game road trip that saw them shellacked by both the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens.

But back on home ice on Saturday, it was a good break for the B’s that allowed them to get back in the game – and ultimately beat the Carolina Hurricanes.

Down 1-0 after a Jiri Tlusty goal at 7:05 in the first period, rookie Seth Griffith scored off a whacky bounce that hit a Carolina defenseman and trickled past Hurricanes goalie Cam Ward to tie the game 1-1.

Patrice Bergeron later tallied what would be the game-winner off some great hustle and pass from Brad Marchand. The Bruins played a strong second period before being outshot 15-4 in the third, but held on to earn a much-needed two points.

The Bruins next take the ice on Tuesday, when they welcome the St. Louis Blues to the TD Garden, as they try to build off the momentum from their 2-1 matinee win.
