Nothing came in the second period as the Oilers dominated play in the latter half. Early on in the third period, it appeared that things would continue to go the Oilers way, as Mark Arcobello beat Tuukka Rask just 1:44 into the period.

After the Bruins were frustrated by what they felt were quick whistles that denied them goals off of Edmonton rebounds, they finally broke through to tie the game and then quickly took a commanding lead. They scored three goals in 2:34, with Loui Eriksson kicking off the goal extravaganza.
