David Pastrnak Named AHL Rookie of the Month

While the Bruins’ up-and-down October left them with a .500 record as the calendar turned, one of their prospects probably wishes the month would never end.
After an impressive start to his pro career in North America, Providence Bruins forward David Pastrnak was named the American Hockey League Rookie of the Month, the league announced on Monday.
The 18-year-old recorded two assists in his P-Bruins debut on Oct. 10, and scored his first AHL goal the next day. In nine games this season for Providence, Pastrnak has tallied three goals and seven assists with a plus-9 rating, as the P-Bruins have gone 6-2-1, good for 13 points and first place in their division and second in the AHL’s Eastern Conference.
A native of the Czech Republic, Pastrnak was selected with the No. 25 overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft after playing two seasons with Swedish club Sodertalje SK. He became the first forward to be taken by the Bruins in the opening round since they drafted Tyler Seguin with the No. 2 overall pick in 2010.
Pastrnak attended training camp with the Bruins, but suffered a shoulder injury on the second day of camp and ended up playing in just two preseason games for the Bruins before being assigned to Providence.
