Marchand Turnover Sparks Deja Vu from Game 1
The Bruins entered the second period of Game 2 with a lead. Just over a minute later, the game was tied.
Why you ask? A mistake by Brad Marchand at center ice that led to transition for the Canadiens, and after a scramble in front, Mike Weaver buried a shot through traffic that made it 1-1.
Looking back on the play, however, it seemed like a case of déjà vu for the Bruins, as an incredibly similar mistake in Game 1 quickly led to a Canadiens score.
Here’s a look at the play from Marchand in Game 2 that resulted in Weaver’s goal.
Now a look back to the second period of Game 1, when a bad turnover by Torey Krug gave Montreal a 2-on-1 that Rene Bourque took advantage of for his fourth playoff goal.
The Canadiens scored twice in the second period as went into the third with a 2-1 lead.
The Bruins can only hope that the result of Game 2 is not the same as Game 1, or they will be facing a huge hole down two games in the series as it shifts to the Bell Centre in Montreal.
