Iginla named NHL’s Third Star of the Week
For the second time this season, Bruins forward Jarome Iginla is one of the NHL’s Stars of the Week.
Iginla was named Third Star of the Week for the week ending March 23. Detroit’s Gustav Nyquist and New York’s Henrik Lundqvist were named first and second stars of the week, respectively. He scored five goals for the Bruins last week, including a pair of two-goal games against the Minnesota Wild and Phoenix Coyotes. He also played in his 1,300th NHL game on March 17, and passed Johnny Bucyk on NHL’s all-time goals list with two against the Colorado Avalanche on March 21. Iginla now sits two goals shy for 24th the all-time goals list behind Guy Lafleur, who has 560.
Iginla has scored 11 goals in March. He’s first on the Bruins in goals (28), second in points (58) and third in assists (30). He was also the league’s Third Star for the week ending Feb. 9.
