Fans sound off on the Bruins

Six hockey fans weighed in on the Boston Bruins’ recent performance, their chances against the Toronto Maple Leafs, and whether or not they think Boston will take home the Stanley Cup this year.
Ben Cobleigh of South Portland, Maine, said that despite Friday night’s loss to Toronto, he isn’t worried about the current series.
“[Game five] was a little disappointing, but it happens in Boston,’’ he said. “They always turn something around.’’

Manny Jardin of Holden was confident about the Bruins’ Stanley Cup prospects.
“I think they’ll make this series in six games,’’ he said. “Their playing has been very consistent with what its been in the regular season up until now. I thought they were going to win this series in five, but as long as they keep doing what they can do, they’ll win it in six.’’

“We all felt exactly the way Andy Brickley announces – for once, our emotions were on par with his,’’ said Jonathan Herweck of Nashua, N.H., describing the intensity of the final minutes of Friday night’s game. He thinks the Bruins will win the Stanley Cup this season.
“It’s about matchups,’’ he said. “I was really happy they played Toronto; if they played somebody like the Islanders or Rangers it probably would have been detrimental to start out with. They’ll win this series in six or seven, hopefully [Sunday]. If they play the Rangers next, that’ll be tough, but I think they’ll win that in six. But I totally think the Bruins will take the Chicago Blackhawks for the Stanley Cup, in Boston.’’

Nathan Marles of South Portland, Maine, said he was disappointed in the Bruins’ performance Friday night during game five of the Bruins-Maple Leafs series.
“The last five minutes were the only time [the Bruins] were actually playing. They can win this series, they just need to play.’’
However, he said he believed they’d get their act together, and that “Boston always pulls something out of their hat.’’

Kevin Cannon of Bethel Park, Penn., thinks the Bruins will take the series in Toronto, but believes Pittsburgh will provide a greater challenge.
“I think the Penguins-Bruins matchup is most certainly going to be the Eastern Conference final. I think everyone’s predicting that. The one thing that wins playoff hockey is good defense and goaltending, though, so it’s really looking up for the Penguins, they’ve had two shutouts so far this series.’’
Although he is a Penguins fan, he said he will be cheering for recent Bruins acquisition Jaromir Jagr.
“I’ve been a Jaromir Jagr fan since I was eight years old,’’ he said. “I’ve been a Jagr fan all my life, so of course I’m cheering for him.’’

Jason Horowitz of Jamaica Plain said he thinks the Bruins have a chance at winning it all, but that it depends on how the rest of their series with Toronto goes.
“If they can finish off Toronto in Game 6, I think they can take the momentum into the next couple of rounds,’’ he said. “If Boston’s pushed to a seventh game, I don’t know if I like their chances, because these other teams will be well-rested and are on momentum swings, whereas Boston’s kind of up and down.’’
