This year’s HGTV Dream Home is in a Vermont ski town – and it could be yours
Crazy as the real estate market may be now, this Vermont home is bound to be in your budget.
The home — a stunning new contemporary in the Mad River Valley, is free — if you win HGTV’s annual Dream Home sweepstakes.
The prize package includes the fully furnished home, $250,000 from Rocket Mortgage, and a 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer for a total value of more than $2.4 million, according to HGTV’s website.
This year’s 3,090-square-foot home offers three bedrooms and 3½ baths and is nestled on a woodsy plot in Warren, Vt., home to Sugarbush Resort.
The A-frame, Scandinavian-style home was meticulously designed with a focus on the “Vermont lifestyle,” HGTV’s Brian Patrick Flynn said in a recorded video tour of the home. Flynn designed the home with Dylan Eastman. The builder was Big Country Built.
The first floor is open and airy with a big kitchen, a sitting room, and a shared dining and living room spaces. There’s also what can only be described as an indoor-outdoor “pool porch”: There’s a seating area with skylights and retractable vinyl screens overlooking the pool area.
The primary bedroom, a guest bedroom, and a loft space are on the second floor, and each one has a balcony that offers impressive mountain views. No detail was spared in the design, from the wall of snowshoes in the primary bedroom to the cutouts that mimic the undulations of the surrounding mountings in the smoky, gray-blue, Stick-style wall treatment in the loft. There’s also a small mezzanine at the top of the stairs, with an open office space and a laundry room with a sink.
For guests who plan to stay a while, there’s a bedroom suite with a kitchenette and its own entrance.
The design in the outdoor spaces was met with equal consideration as the inside of the home: Think living, dining, and cocktail areas. There’s also a heated pool with an integrated hot tub and a fire pit with room to seat 12 people.
This is the second time the Green Mountain State has been selected as the site of the Dream Home. The first time was in 2011, when a modern cabin in Stowe garnered more than 76 million entries, according to the Huffington Post.
People can enter online once a day at both the HGTV and Food Network websites until 5 p.m. on February 17.
