Boston just ranked among the 10 most neighborly cities in America
Boston also ranked fourth in charitable giving and third in nonprofits. What over New England city made the list? .
Incoming Boston residents are planting roots in one of the most neighborly cities in the United States, according to Neighbor.com.
The site released a study naming the 2021 most neighborly cities in America this week, and Boston ranked No. 7. Madison, Wis., was No. 1.
“Boston is a newcomer on this year’s list as a city where people know the value of lending a hand to one another,” according to the site.
Editors compiled the list by analyzing the 100 largest metro areas using six categories: volunteerism, the number of nonprofits per 100,000 residents, charitable giving, happiness, crime, and neighborly acts.
Boston ranked fourth in charitable giving and third in nonprofits, according to the site. These categories weighed the most, along with volunteering.
Another New England city made the list: Bridgeport, Conn., ranked No. 15.
“[A]fter nearly two years living in the COVID-19 pandemic, having good neighbors feels more important than ever before,” the site wrote.
