It’s a kind of a neverland where navigation is based on par not stars, where hooks are not captains, and where the sand in the traps isn’t magic.

Built by a nine-hole golf course, the Villages at Weathervane is a 55-plus community where golf carts are abundant, but children are not — those under 18 must live elsewhere. Phase one of this condo development features 119 units of freestanding mostly Cape-style homes like this one.

Head up the front steps and into the living room. Large enough for a grand piano plus the furniture, this space offers a gas fireplace flanked by built-in bookcases, but the defining feature is the large square window, near the crown of the 14-foot-high ceiling, that floods the space with sunlight.

The sunny space extends to the dining area and then into the kitchen, where cherry cabinets mix beautifully with stainless appliances and gorgeous Brazilian granite counters streaked with brown, white, black, yellow, and red. The two-seater island also has a granite counter. Take your morning coffee and the paper into the sunroom, which has sliders to a deck. Off the deck, you’ll find a small paving-stone patio framed by blue and Norwegian dwarf spruce as well as arborvitae. After that second cup, get ready for the day in the first-floor master suite, which features a large sleeping area, a walk-in closet with custom shelving, and a shower-only bath with a double vanity.

The second floor encompasses two areas, one not reachable from the other. Off the kitchen, a stairwell leads to the bonus room, a large space currently used as an office. From the living room, a stairwell heads up into the family room/loft. Up here, you’ll also find the second bedroom. It’s big enough for two twin beds, has a cedar closet, and offers an en suite bath with a deep whirlpool tub.

The two-car garage provides a space in the back to park a golf cart. Membership at the golf course is at separate cost.
