A running list of the cost to rent an apartment in eastern Massachusetts

Which community has seen nearly a 15 percent year-over-year increase in rent? Where are rents going down?

Lawrence saw the biggest year-over-year increase in rent, according to a report the Zumper real estate search site released Tuesday — with the median cost of a one-bedroom jumping 15.6 percent in March to $1,560.

Beverly logged the second-biggest increase (14.3 percent), and Everett the third (19.8 percent). Cambridge, Boston, and Brookline were ranked the most expensive communities for renters. The least costly were Haverhill, Brockton, and Worcester.

The median rent for a one-bedroom unit in Massachusetts was $1,895 in March.
