Once one of the most architecturally distinctive churches in the Boston Archdiocese, this red-brick building now houses eight condos within walking distance to restaurant-loaded Day Square and two Blue Line stations. The building retains its majesty, with broad stairs of slabbed stone rising from the sidewalk to the front door and a small entry with buzzers for the units.
This is a tri-level condo; one enters into the middle of it all: An open floor plan encompassing the kitchen and living and dining areas is something of a visual bonanza. The lower sections of some walls are painted a rich blue or a calming gray. Both accent exposed brick walls that reach the ceiling. Two square windows high in the red brick are topped with steel frames painted a flat black. The kitchen has maple cabinetry, stainless-steel appliances, granite counters, and a white subway tile backsplash with a distinctive gray grout.
A half bath with a pedestal sink and ceramic tile floor sits next to the kitchen. The flooring on the rest of this level and in the master suite is white oak.
The master suite occupies all of the third floor and has the hallmark of a loft bedroom — a long, wide opening overlooking the second floor. Rattan curtains offer privacy and a buffer from the early morning sunlight. The bedroom, which is roughly 250 square feet, also has a walk-in closet with a ladder for accessing additional storage. The en-suite bath features a single white vanity with a granite countertop, a ceramic tile floor, and a shower/tub combo with a white subway tile surround.
The home’s lower level houses the family room, the guest bedroom, the second full bath, and a stacked-laundry closet. The flooring is white oak.
The current owners use the family room as an office and exercise space. The guest bedroom, which is about 110 square feet in size, has an aboveground window and a closet. The second full bath is a mirror image of the master’s.
The home has a Nest thermostat and central air.
