Biggest sales: A condo in a restored Back Bay mansion for $9.5 million
A condo in a restored Gilded Age property was the top home sale last week, according to the Multiple Listing Service.
A condo in a restored Gilded Age property was the priciest sale last week with a $9,500,000 price tag. Tracy Campion of Campion & Company Fine Homes Real Estate sold the home on Thursday, April 4.
Unit 2 of 305 Commonwealth Ave., also known as the Thayer Mansion, offers 4,286 square feet of living space and 169 square feet of private deck.
The Back Bay building was designed as a single-family house in 1884 by Peabody and Stearns, a “premier architectural firm of the late 19th and early 20th centuries,” according to the realtor’s website. The home still boasts some 19th-century details, such as hand-carved molding, elaborate ceilings, and quartersawn oak floors.
In 2018, the building was restored and converted into four condo units. Unit 2 comes with three bedrooms, three full baths, four fireplaces, and two tandem garage parking spaces. Other features of the residence include an eat-in kitchen, a master suite with a study, and formal living and dining rooms.
