Home of the week: Saugus new construction on the edge of a bluff with amazing views
This new four-bedroom house, perched on the edge of a bluff that rises some 150 feet above sea level, must have one of the sweetest views in Saugus. From the composite decks off the kitchen/dining area and one of the bedrooms, take in the view of Rumney Marsh Reservation and the ocean beyond.
The house itself is a pretty sight. The kitchen and dining room are one sunny space. The dining area, found on the right side, has great views that can be enjoyed from the deck, which starts outside the kitchen and wraps around the house. The kitchen features stainless-steel appliances (including a gas stove), an island, and cream-colored cabinets topped with granite. There will be no door slamming in this kitchen; the cabinet doors and drawers are soft close.
Story continues after gallery.
See inside 41 Beacham Avenue:
A short hallway leads past a full bath and ends in the living room, a long rectangle with a skylight, windows that look out to that fantastic view, and a gas fireplace framed by granite.
The flooring in this home is 5-inch-wide American cherry, and the ceilings are 8 to 9 feet high throughout, except in the foyer, where they are 20, said the builder, Silvestro Schiavone.
The main floor has two bedrooms, each nicely sized with a large closet. The home’s other two bedrooms, both with en suite baths, can be found on the second floor. One is clearly superior. Located in the back of the house, this room has an unobstructed view of the marsh that can also be enjoyed from a private deck. The bathroom has a granite double vanity, a shower, a bidet, and a long whirlpool tub. Schiavone framed the tub with honey maple he harvested on the property, cut in his sawmill, and sealed by hand. It looks like petrified wood, marble, and maple all at the same time. The bedroom has a walk-in closet.
The second suite also has a walk-in closet and a full bath — with a single sink, a granite countertop, and the same cabinetry as the kitchen. In here, a pull-down ladder offers access to the attic and air-handler system.
The lowest level, which is unfinished save for a half bath, has 8-foot ceilings and is completely aboveground. The home, built on a 0.63-acre lot, has an attached two-car garage.
The listing broker, Hudson Santana of Keller Williams Cambridge, will host open houses on Saturday and Sunday (April 2 and 3) from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
