The 20 safest towns and cities in Massachusetts for 2016
Home security company SafeWise released its annual safety list for the Bay State, with many familiar faces from last year.
Not much has changed on Safewise’s list of the safest places in Massachusetts since last year, as 90 percent of the 20 towns and cities are making their third consecutive appearance.
SafeWise, a home security and safety company, ranked the 20 safest towns and cities in the Bay State with over 8,000 people, using FBI crime stats from 2014, the most recent year available. The company looked at the level of violent crimes, which include aggravated assault, murder, rape, and robbery, and property crimes, which include burglary, arson, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft.
For the second year in a row, Wayland made it to the top of the list. SafeWise noted that the Middlesex County town, which has 13,000 residents, had fewer than 20 reported crimes in 2014.
