Massachusetts has five of the most expensive ZIP codes for renters in the nation, according to a study RentHop released Nov. 20.
The online rental marketplace ranked the Bay State as the fourth most expensive state for renters:

The Massachusetts ZIP codes that made the list were:
02110 – Boston’s Waterfront and Financial District
02210 – South Boston
02116 – Back Bay
02108 – Beacon Hill
02142 – Cambridge
One Boston ZIP code (02110) was named the ninth most expensive in the United States overall:

New York topped the list with 44 pricey ZIP codes:

Followed by California:

California’s rental prices have cooled off, according to the study. The Los Angeles metro area had 15 of the nation’s most expensive ZIP codes in 2023. This year it had 11. In the city of Malibu, the median rent for a two-bedroom apartment will set you back $6,500.
Florida ranked third, with 15 ZIP codes. Fisher Island tops the list as the most expensive spot for renters in 2024. The median rent for a two-bedroom apartment here will cost you $25,000.
Texas and Nevada landed on the top 10 priciest state lists for the first time. Texas has seen a lot of in-migration, and Nevada is suffering from a lack of inventory. In Las Vegas, the median rent for a two-bedroom apartment hit $5,600, according to the study, while the median cost for the same unit in Houston increased to $4,696.
