One of the cheapest ski towns for renters is in New England, according to Rent.com
Skiers on a budget searching for a rental near the slopes will find one of the most affordable ski towns in America in Connecticut, according to Rent.com.
Rent.com recently released a list of the 10 cheapest ski towns for renters and Middletown, Connecticut, not far from Ski Mount Southington in Plantsville, ranked No. 10.
“There are tons of slopes across America — in places you might not realize — that offer great skiing and are close to affordable towns,” wrote Rent.com.
Middletown, home of Wesleyan University, is “a bedroom community that’s popular among families, students and commuters,” according to Rent.com. The city is 16 miles from Hartford and offers two-bedroom apartments for an average of $950 compared to those in Hartford, which average $2,300, according to the site.
“Ski Mount Southington has been a beloved fixture of central Connecticut since the 1960s, catering to families with a wide range of offerings including night skiing and on-site apres-ski treats like waffles,” wrote the site.
Rent.com comprised the list by analyzing towns within 25 miles of a ski resort or mountain and then researching the cheapest average two-bedroom rent prices based on a rolling weighted average from Apartment Guide and Rent.com as of November 2021.
