Report: Most renters looking to move to Boston live in New York
Providence is the most popular location for renters looking to leave Boston, followed by Worcester and Rochester, NY.
The majority of renters flocking to Boston from another metro currently live in New York City, according to a report Apartment List released Wednesday.
Nearly 22 percent of renters looking at Boston apartments live in New York City, making it the biggest inbound search location. Of the top 10 inbound locations for Boston, just three — Miami, Los Angeles, and Chicago — were located outside the Northeast Corridor.
On the other hand, Providence is the most popular location for renters looking to leave Boston, followed by Worcester and Rochester, NY. According to Apartment List, data indicate that renters moving out of Boston are attracted to smaller, more affordable options. The report did not compile the searchers’ ages, so it’s not known how many are college students.
