Boston was the third most expensive city for renters in February, behind only San Francisco and New York City, according to Zumper‘s National Rent Report.
It costs nearly $2,500 to rent a one-bedroom apartment and $2,900 for a two-bedroom in Boston, the real estate site reported. The cost to rent a one-bedroom in San Francisco dropped 0.6 percent to $3,500, while the cost to rent a two-bedroom grew 0.7 percent to $4,580. In New York City, rent for a one-bedroom sat at $3,000, but the cost of a two-bedroom decreased 1.5 percent to $3,320.
Providence ranked 32d on the list, down five spots, with the cost to rent a one-bedroom down 4.7 percent to $1,210. The report said that the median rent for a one-bedroom is down 16 percent year over year.
Nationally, rents for one- and two-bedroom units decreased 0.1 percent last month overall to medians of $1,219 and $1,463.
