When buyers raise their credit scores from “fair” (580-669) to “very good” (740-799), they can rack up more than $41,000 in savings, according to the findings. Over the duration of a mortgage, someone with a fair credit score will pay an average of $261,076, while a homeowner with a very good score will pay $219,660.
