Stained-glass windows make Braintree home shine
This Victorian home boasts classic charm and many modern elements.
Thanks to their elaborate ornamentation, Victorians are far from cookie-cutter, and this one makes its commanding presence known with archways and stained-glass windows.
It’s that way from the get-go. The front porch is enclosed, drawing the eye to the three-arched windows and the front door, which is nestled into a fourth archway.
Just inside the front door, the parlor introduces that classic, airy feeling of a Victorian with high ceilings and a bay window overlooking the front yard. The adjoining living room features a bay window with shutters, a window seat, and a view of the side yard.

Beautiful features on display in Braintree Victorian
Other period details of this home, constructed just before the arrival of the 20th century, are found throughout. A built-in china cabinet with leaded-glass doors anchors a dining room that is all the more elegant for its chandelier and waist-high wainscoting clad in white embossed wallpaper.
All of the flooring in the home is maple, except for that in the kitchen, which is shod in a gorgeous flame-colored heartwood offset by white cabinetry and counters. The electric stove looks dated, but the half bath off the kitchen has been renovated.
You can access the second floor using the morning stairs off the kitchen, but for a grander entrance, ascend the staircase out front, where two large stained-glass windows with smooth, arched tops guide the way. Their floral designs are a mixture of red, yellow, and clear glass. In total, there are five stained-glass windows in the home.
There is no suite, but the master bedroom is spacious and sunny with a large closet. The three other bedrooms offer decent closet space. Two have built-in cabinetry. The hallway and full bath surprise with walk-in closets. The bathroom features a hardwood floor, a claw-foot tub, and a white pedestal sink that might be original to the house.
The walk-up attic, which has high ceilings, and the basement are unfinished. The home comes with a detached two-car garage and sits on a half acre.
Listing broker Michael Clancy of Century 21 Tullish & Clancy in Weymouth will hold an open house on Sunday, Aug. 23, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
