Back in August 2015, Quinzani’s Bakery closed, in what The Boston Globe referred to as the “latest industrial site to vacate the rapidly gentrifying part of the neighborhood where the Massachusetts Turnpike meets the Southeast Expressway.”

Now developer Related Beal has proposed to demolish what was once the bakery and the adjacent Ho-Kong Bean Sprout (also vacant) after purchasing the property in October. The firm’s proposal to the Boston Redevelopment Authority expanded upon plans to build a 14-story multi-use building.

According to the proposal, the ground floor at 370-380 Harrison Avenue would be commercial and the rest would be residential. There would be 280 residential units — 175 rentals and 105 condos — and 180 parking spaces.

It seems that the developer also plans to revitalized the sidewalk near the building. According to the proposal:

“The primary pedestrian walkway will be between rows of trees providing ample shade and definition to the pedestrian experience. Either side of the allée of trees will be populated with locations for outdoor seating and other activities. The spatial arrangement of walkway and trees will allow for multiple potential uses that can provide both public and commercial amenities to the neighborhood.”

The building would also have bike storage and would also provide more on-street parking for the neighborhood.
