A proposal to build one of Boston’s tallest buildings is being resurrected by entrepreneur Steve Belkin, who years ago shelved a plan for an even bigger structure, The Boston Globe reported.

Belkin is proposing an up to 740-foot glass tower that would replace a city-owned parking garage at Winthrop Square — a project that would cost up to $900 million, according to the Globe.

Originally, Belkin proposed a 1,000-foot office tower that drew regulatory objections because it would have interfered with air traffic. He shelved the project during the economic downturn.

Now he is back with a scaled-down version, at least 260 feet shorter.

The proposed complex would contain a hotel, retail space, offices, and possibly condominiums, according to the Globe.
