Entrepreneur Thomas DeVesto has listed his peaceful Cape Cod property for $12.5 million.

The Audio Hall of Fame member and founder of Cambridge SoundWorks and Tivoli Audio is saying goodbye to the seven-bedroom, eight-bathroom (five full, three half) home on Cotuit Bay. Tucked on a winding road, 835 Old Post Road was custom-built by the DeVestos as a summer home in 1995. However, frequent updates create the feeling that it’s much newer.

“In a lot of ways, it feels like a newly built house,” said Paul Grover, co-founder of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Robert Paul Properties, who has the listing.

The home is located directly across the street from more than 100 acres of conservation land filled with trails and a pond. Sitting at a high elevation overlooking the water, it features a substantial deepwater dock, a highly coveted feature on the Cape.

Step inside the front entry, and you’ll find French doors to the right that lead into the dining room filled with built-ins. Look straight ahead, and you can see out all the way to the water. A combined kitchen and family room features two dishwashers and top-of-the-line appliances, as well as a wet bar and fireplace. An additional pantry space is ideal for storage, and there’s also a laundry room and office space. A first-floor bedroom features a full bathroom of its own.

Transition to the outdoor living space easily through the sliding doors, which lead out to the massive stone terrace that’s equipped with electric hurricane shutters and screens that provide full coverage. There’s also radiant heat in the stone floor, ideal for fall or spring. An outdoor cooking area and television are ideal for entertaining guests.

“During the summer, they kind of lived out there,” said Grover.

Back inside, move up to the second level to check out the primary bedroom suite, which looks out onto Cotuit Bay and features two closets. It also has an adjacent sitting room that could easily function as an additional office or dressing area, as well as a deck overlooking the water. There’s an additional laundry room on the second floor. A door leads to a two-bedroom apartment over the garage, which also has an exterior access via a back staircase for privacy.

On the third floor, you’ll find a spacious office with a fireplace and woodwork that Grover compares to a yacht. There’s also a half-bathroom and sliders out to a deck. Stairs lead to a Widow’s Walk, which provides outstanding views of the bay.

You can take the stairs back downstairs or hop on the elevator, which travels to all floors, to head all the way downstairs to the basement level to visit the finished lower level. There, a gym is the perfect spot for a workout. There’s also a game room, as well as an easy exit from the home that will take you directly out to the pool area. A bedroom and a separate full bath are great for visitors.

Sitting on 1.3 acres, the property features a flat, grassy yard and a back patio that features a stunning outdoor pool and spa that overlooks the bay. Continue further toward the water and you’ll find a sandy beach.

“Now, pools are so popular here and are such an important selling point; if it doesn’t have a pool on the water, people say, ‘Well, can we get a pool?’” said Grover.

There’s a two-car attached garage as well as an additional two-car detached garage.
