Steve Pagliuca has owned a lot of things in Boston, and he’s letting another one go. The former co-chairman of Bain Capital and former Celtics co-owner has listed his Back Bay mansion for $10.995 million.
Built in 1890, 362 Marlborough St. was originally known as the George Wheatland House. Sitting on a coveted 2,688-square-foot corner lot, the 5,680-square-foot, single-family brownstone was previously a multi-family residence until Pagliuca and his wife, Judy, a biotech investor, transformed the space from 2021 to 2022.
“This was a custom for them. This wasn’t a spec. They poured their heart and soul into this,” said George Sarkis, co-founder of The Sarkis Team at Douglas Elliman, who has the listing. “There were no expenses spared here.”
A heated front walkway leads to the front steps of the four-bed, seven-bath (three full, four-half) brownstone and to the first level, which functions as a hosting area with a formal living room, dining room, and butler’s kitchen. Natural light streams in thanks to the home’s corner exposure with three sides of windows.
“You kind of feel like you’re in a hotel lobby,” Sarkis said.

Continue upstairs to the everyday living space, which features a brand-new kitchen with custom cabinetry, quartz countertops, and Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances. There’s a balcony off the kitchen that’s ideal for grilling, and a breakfast nook is great for busy mornings. Floor-to-ceiling windows stream in natural light. A luxe family room is perfect for gathering.

The top floor consists of the primary suite, a private oasis filled with natural light, and a two-sided fireplace. It flows naturally into the dressing room, a spacious room filled with endless built-ins and storage space. The primary bathroom is spa-like featuring a step-in shower, dual sinks, privacy glass, and a freestanding, deep soaking tub.

Boasting craftsmanship and custom millwork, the home’s modern finishes are sleek and timeless. Elevator access throughout the property provides ample accessibility.
There are also several outdoor spaces, including a stunning roof deck, terrace, and balcony that provide views of the Back Bay neighborhood and beyond.
There’s also a driveway and garage parking for two vehicles, if fighting for a parking spot doesn’t strike your fancy.
