Gas up the helicopter, because this expansive estate on Narragansett Bay has its very own helistops. Two, in fact.

Set on 12.29 acres of stunning waterfront property in the town of Bristol, R.I., 333 Poppasquash Road is a historic beauty that’s reachable by land, air, or sea. Previously known as Point Pleasant Farm for more than 100 years, industrialist Commodore Charles Rockwell Jr. purchased the waterfront portion of the land in 1938 and completed the English Revival mansion, which was designed by notable architect Wallis Howe, the following year. One of Rockwell’s intentions was to see that the lights were always on in his factory, Cranston Worsted Mills, across the bay. The home was built on the highest point of the property to optimize the unobstructed bay views.

More recently, the property became a bed and breakfast known as the Point Pleasant Inn. Now, the mansion, which is listed at $7,450,000, provides a strong sense of privacy tucked inside the gated enclave of Poppasquash Point. Nestled in between unbroken forest and 611 feet of shelly beach shoreline, the 11-bed, 12-bath (nine full, three half) property boasts impeccable features, including 270-degree panoramic views of Narragansett Bay and craftsmanship from local boatwrights including oak inlays, crown molding, paneling, and pocket doors. The house measures 11,672 square feet.

One of the most unique features is the formal dining room, where original murals illustrate the history of all the Bristol properties belonging to the original owner. It also has a wet bar, a grand fireplace, and a stunning waterfront view. There’s also a custom library and telephone room.

But it’s the two helistops that may be most interesting to some potential buyers who are looking to fly in from Boston or New York City. There is one on the front lawn facing west, as well as a second on the waterfront lawn facing northeast. While it may seem like an obscure feature, it’s likely appreciated by potential buyers.

“We have a bunch of prospects who own helicopters who appreciate that,” said Gregory Arakelian of Lila Delman Compass, who has the listing.

The property also features a horse barn with four stalls and a garage on each side. There’s a tennis court and large swimming pool with a luxurious patio for soaking up the summer sun.

Facing east on the water, the home provides unobstructed views looking south to the channel and north to Bristol Harbor.  The water access will likely be an attractive feature for a buyer, thanks to the two deep-water moorings on the property.

Downtown Bristol, filled with fun spots for dining and enjoying the outdoors, is just a bike ride away, and provides a more low-key travel destination than nearby Newport.
