A $5.1 million Beacon Hill town house tops our list of biggest sales
A Back Bay condo and Victorians in Jamaica Plain and Newton round out our priciest-sales list.
Boston was well represented in our weekly tally of the priciest sales, taking three out of four spots. A five-bedroom Beacon Hill town house went for $5,130,000, edging out a Back Bay condo that dropped for $4,850,000. Victorians in Newton and Jamaica Plain round out our list, selling for $3,395,000 and $2,850,000, respectively. Check them out:
90 Chestnut St., Beacon Hill
With five bedrooms, 5.5 baths, and 6,421-square feet of living space, this town home has an impressive sales price and address — on Beacon Hill’s Flat of the Hill. The property sold for $5,130,000 on Wednesday. The neoclassical home, which was built in 1898, has 12 rooms, elegant woodwork, built-ins, seven fireplaces, and a roof deck. It comes with garage parking on Brimmer Street.
9 Commonwealth Ave., Back Bay
This three-bedroom, three-bath condo in a remodeled brownstone sold for $4,850,000 on Monday. It offers 2,096 square feet of living space, hardwood floors, molding, built-ins, views of the Commonwealth Avenue Mall and the Boston skyline, high-end appliances, plantation shutters, and a five-piece marble bath with radiant-heat flooring. One on-site garage parking space was included in the sale. The building was built in 1861.
62 Lenox St., Newton
Period architectural detail can be found throughout this 1897 Shingle-style Victorian on West Newton Hill. The home, which sold for $3,395,000 on Tuesday, has six bedrooms, 3.5 baths, and 5,269 square feet of living space. It sits on a 0.65-acre lot. Other highlights of the home include stained-glass windows, a third-floor rec room with exposed beams, 11-foot ceilings, formal and informal spaces, an eat-in kitchen, a deck, a master suite with a walk-in closet and a marble bath, and parking for two vehicles in the carriage house.
40 Greenough Ave., Jamaica Plain
This 1875 Victorian on Jamaica Plain’s Sumner Hill has been restored. It sold for $2,850,000 on Monday and offers five bedrooms, five full baths, two half baths, and 5,183 square feet of living space on a 0.23-acre lot. Features of the home include high ceilings, stained-glass windows, a cherry staircase, a mahogany library, fireplaces, hardwood floors, gardens, a bluestone patio, and a conservatory with walls of glass.
