Top sales: Historic Back Bay penthouse goes for over $5 million
Properties in the South End, Cambridge, and Gloucester also made the list.
Two homes in Boston were the top sellers this week: A Back Bay penthouse went for $5,097,500, and a six-level, single-family home in the South End got $4,750,000.
A new home in Cambridge came in close behind, at $4,700,000, while a Gloucester estate went for $3,850,000. Another week in Greater Boston, more big home sales.

This four-bedroom, four-bath, 4,072-square-foot penthouse in the historic Hotel Agassiz building sold for $5,097,500 on Monday. Inside, you’ll find original details, as well as modern updates and city views. The master suite has a sitting room and double walk-in closets. Other amenities include an eat-in kitchen with double ovens, fireplaces in the library and living room, three butler’s pantries, a dining room and a foyer with skylights, and a separate laundry room.
25 Rutland Square, South End
On Friday, Oct. 27, this four-bedroom, 4.5-bath, 4,300-square-foot single-family in the South End sold for $4,750,000. The home, which spans six levels, underwent extensive renovation, particularly in the kitchen, where you will find a large center island and stainless-steel appliances. In the family room/office, there is a skylight, wet bar, and access to a deck with a sauna. The parlor offers high ceilings, crown molding, two marble fireplaces, and Juliet balconies. Other highlights of the home include a media room and a two-car attached garage. The house sits on 0.27 of an acre.
129 Atlantic Road, Gloucester
Set right on the water, this home, called “Terra Firma,” sold for $3,850,000 on Friday, Oct. 27. The estate offers four bedrooms, 4.5 baths, and 8,441 square feet of living space and is set on a 1.09-acre lot. Inside you’ll find luxurious features, such as granite flooring, radiant heat, cherry doors, intricate moldings, and fireplace mantels from Italy.
