This Somerville condo just became the city’s most expensive sale ever
A large, industrial-style penthouse condo sold for $1,750,000 on July 22, beating out Somerville’s previous priciest sale by only $25,000.
30 Howard Street, Unit 5 was originally listed for $1,799,900 and was featured as a Boston Globe Home of the Week in May. Its sale just barely beats out the previous home sale record in Somerville, when 32 Foskett Street sold for $1,725,000 in April 2015.

There was a time when million dollar home sales were almost unheard of in Somerville, but recently they have become more common. Over the last year, home values increased by 11.3 percent in the city and are expected to rise another 4 percent in the next year, a quick growth rate even for the Boston area.
30 Howard Street, Unit 5 is in a red-brick factory building near Davis Square called the Davis Square Lofts complex. The building was constructed in 1894, according to the Globe. The condo has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, 2,500 square feet of living space, and more than 1,500 square feet of roof deck space.
