Two Boston properties with polar opposite styles sold big this week

Though the suburbs had plenty of multi-million dollar sales this week, it was Boston that really saw the big numbers.

A Back Bay condo sold for $5,650,000 and a South End single-family home sold for $4,200,000 — and the two have polar opposite design styles.

90 Marlborough Street, Apt. 6, Back Bay, Boston

This recently renovated Back Bay condo with three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and 2,700 square feet of living space, sold on April 27 for $5,650,000, well above Back Bay’s $868,800 median home value. The chic, contemporary style condo is all on one floor and also has a study. It has direct access from two sides.

13 Rutland Square, South End, Boston 

On April 28, this four-bedroom, historic single-family home with 4,025 square feet of living space sold for $4,200,000, well above the South End’s $745,200 median home value. The home, which won The Boston Globe’s “kitchen of the year” in 2012, was built in 1860 in the Venetian Gothic style.

36R Carver Street, Cambridge

This unique contemporary home, with three bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, and 2,932 square feet of living space between Harvard and Porter squares, sold on April 26 for $2,800,000, well above the city’s $648,000 median home value. The home has a floating staircase, 11-foot ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, a private yard, and a finished lower level.

15 Haystack Lane, Cohasset

On April 25, this 4,064-square-foot home steps from the ocean, with four bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, sold for $2,100,000, above Cohasset’s $783,300 median home value. The home is on over a half acre of land in a cul-de-sac and has an open floor plan, hickory floors, and a large island with a breakfast nook.
