Proposed Revere Beach luxury apartments could break ground this spring

As we have seen with Chelsea and Quincy, luxury rental buildings seem to be making their way to Boston’s surrounding towns – and Revere is next up.

Weston-based Baystone Development plans to build a five-story, 234-unit luxury residential building with waterfront views from nearly every window.

Baystone bought the land at 526-546 Revere Beach Boulevard back in September 2015. This purchase came a few years after the original development plan for the land – The Ocean Club, a 12-story resort-style condo – fell through, The Boston Globe reported.

Todd MacDowell, a principal at Baystone Development, told Boston.com his team has most of the permitting and approvals they need to get going. They are hoping to apply for their building permits soon.

“We still have a few things to tie up,” MacDowell said. “But we are hoping we can break ground this spring.”

MacDowell mentioned the building’s proximity to Boston, the nearby Blue line MBTA stop, and the beach as selling points for the building.

“Not only does it have beach views [from] the front,” MacDowell said. “It also has water views of the marsh [from the back]. It is one of the only sites I can think of with 360 degree water views.”

The building is also set to have a swimming pool with terraces overlooking beach, grill stations, a rooftop deck, a gym, a movie theater, and an interactive sports room where you can play golf, tennis, and football on a simulator.

There’s another project down the street being called Waterfront Square, which will have two luxury residences that are currently under construction.

“But our goal is to be the best building on the beach,” MacDowell said.
