Big sales: A $2 million Back Bay penthouse with great views

Back Bay (and Boston more generally) had its fair share of big home sales this week, but a Marlborough Street penthouse takes the cake. The suburbs didn’t do half bad either, with a few large sales in Milton, Arlington, and Cambridge. Check them out.

This two-bedroom, two-bathroom, 1,912-square-foot Back Bay penthouse sold for $2,065,000 on January 21, above the $1.2 million median closing price in the neighborhood. The home has three floors of living space, custom built-ins, large windows, skylights, and an outdoor space.
33 Father Carney Drive, Milton


On January 25, this Milton home with six bedrooms, five bathrooms, and 5,579 square feet of living space sold for $1,675,000, well above the $570,000 median closing price in town. The home was built in 2004 and has an open concept floor plan, an eat-in kitchen, granite counter tops, and plenty of room to entertain.
488 Appleton Street, Arlington


This brand new home with five bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, and 3,900 square feet of living space sold for $1,199,000 on January 26, high above the $580,000 median closing price in town. The home is one of three in a new neighborhood in Arlington. It has high ceilings, a family room with a fireplace, NEST thermostats, and an electric car charger in the garage.


On January 25, this Mansard Victorian townhouse with three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and 2,220 square feet of living space sold for $1,550,000, above the city’s $712,000 median closing price. The home, which was renovated in 2001 but kept many of its Victorian elements, also has large windows, an open floor plan, basement storage, and front and back patios.
