Inside East Cambridge’s new high-end apartment tower
The views and amenities at the new Twenty|20 building are top notch, but will people pay for East Cambridge?
Twenty|20 is one of the Boston area’s newest luxury towers, which opened its doors to residents last July. The building, named for its 20 stories and its location at 20 Child Street in East Cambridge, has about 30 percent of its apartments leased thus far.
As seen from the dirt lots and construction vehicles next to Twenty|20, the area is currently developing fast. Which makes sense. It’s located minutes from Charlestown, walking distance to the North End, and two miles from Kendall Square. The building is also close to both the MBTA Green lines at Lechmere and the MBTA Orange line at Community College Station.
As Emily Pitkin, the assistant general building manager, put it: “It’s Boston with a Cambridge zip code.’’
