Space is not an issue in and around this expansive home, sited near trails for horses and skiers that marble the Blue Hills Reservation.

The first step inside this stone-faced Colonial is breathtaking: A large crystal chandelier drips down from the 20-foot-plus ceiling, and the white marble floor with imported inlay glistens, radiating toward curved keystone archways in three directions.

Directly ahead is the living room, with its own towering ceiling. Natural light pours in from a large window above the set of doors that leads to the stone terrace, but the focal point of this room is the fireplace with its custom columned mantel and surround.

Just off the living room, a short hallway ends at the first-floor master suite. The bedroom has a gas fireplace, a door leading to the patio, and dual bathrooms that share a large shower. One bath has a water closet, a walk-in closet, and a dark cherry vanity. The other bath, which is larger, features a soaking tub, a makeup vanity, and a walk-in closet with leopard-design carpeting and a crystal chandelier. The floors in both baths have radiant heat.

Head back to the foyer and admire the wrought-iron balconies before turning right into the library, a two-story marvel clad with mahogany paneling and bookshelves tall enough to require a ladder.

Back in the foyer, turn left into the dining room, with its coved ceiling and butler’s pantry. A few steps beyond that is the kitchen. The space has solid-maple cabinets with a glazed finish, a pantry, a beverage center, doors to the patio, and generously proportioned granite counters: The prep island itself is 10 feet long and about 5 feet wide. The appliances are high-end. The breakfast area is nestled in a windowed rotunda with views of the patio.

Go around the corner and up a set of stairs to the mezzanine, which has a gym with mirrors, a full bath with a steam shower, a dressing room, and a sauna.

A few steps up from the mezzanine, the second floor has three bedrooms, each with an en suite bath and walk-in closets and one with an attached arts and crafts room.

The house has a finished lower level that adds roughly 2,000 square feet of living space, but calling it a basement seems misguided. The carpeted space includes a commercial-pour bar with seats for at least seven and a mirror to keep your eye on the tip jar when your back is turned. Columns flank the mirror. From here, a door leads to a home theater with eight plush seats. The lower level also includes a guest room with a full bath (the septic is approved for four bedrooms) and a billiard room.

Nearly every room in this home has elegant millwork, and many doorways are arched, crowned with the keystone design. Most of the ceilings are either coffered or cove. The home, set on 1.73 acres, has an attached, heated four-car garage.
