New renderings of the South End church-turned-condo, “The Lucas,’’ show an interior just as impressive as the soaring eight-story glass-and-steel exterior.
Once the site of the 19th century Holy Trinity German Church, 136 Shawmut Avenue will eventually house 33 luxury condos, a gym, and garage parking. The property is being developed by South End-based New Boston Ventures in tandem with architect James Alexander of Finegold Alexander + Associates, and is expected to be completed around fall 2016.

A peek inside The Lucas:
The homes will range from one to four bedrooms, and are priced from the mid $600,000s up to $4 million. Sounds pricey, but homebuyers get direct elevator access, a private library, and a little piece of history. Built in 1874, many of the church’s Gothic-style features, like its 110-foot steeple and puddingstone façade, will be refurbished and kept intact.
