How does Michael Jordan’s home stack up against Mass. mansions?

Basketball legend Michael Jordan’s mansion in Highland Park, Illinois is for sale… for $14.9 million. And this is not the home’s first time on the market. According to Forbes, Jordan had the listing price at $29 million in February 2012, then dropped it to $21 million. The house went to auction in 2013, failing to hit a minimum bid that was secret, but probably around $13 million.

According to its new listing on The Agency, MJ’s soon-to-be-old digs has nine bedrooms, 15 bathrooms, 56,000 square feet of interior space and sits on 7.4 acres of land. Some other highlights include a gated entrance with the number 23 (his Chicago Bull’s number), three stories, five fireplaces, an outdoor entertaining area with a kitchen, a circular infinity pool, a pond, and a massive movie screen.

But don’t think Jordan skimped on the athletic facilities. The home has a top-of-the-line fitness studio, private putting green, and (maybe not so surprisingly) an NBA-quality basketball gym with the name Jordan printed on the baselines.

Jordan has obviously put his own stamp on his home in the suburbs of Chicago, but some of the eye-catching amenities are available closer to home.

14 Rutland Square Boston, MA 02118

Though this $4,495,000 home in Boston’s South End is $10 million cheaper and only has four bedrooms, four-and-a-half bathrooms, and 3,751 square feet, it does also have an indoor private gym.

This four-bedroom, three-bathroom, 3,079-square-foot home in Charlestown also has a space for a private gym in the house and is on sale for $1,089,000.

315 Dartmouth Street Boston, MA 02116

This $20,000,000 Boston home may not have a gym posted in the listing, but it does have 14,871 square feet, nine bedrooms, and six full and four partial bathrooms.

12 Old Meadow Road, Dover, MA 02030

This home is listed at $2.59 million and has 3.3 acres of land, 11,000 square feet of living space, five bedrooms, five full baths, and three partial baths. Though Michael Jordan probably did not play basketball on this court, it does have a space to play hoops.

But even this mansion doesn’t come close to the square footage of Jordan’s house (and in all reality, not many listings d0). Castle Hill on the Crane Estate with its 59 rooms and 165 acres of space might just beat it, but unfortunately is a National Historic Landmark and not up for sale.
