A Sustainability Story

Long before the ultra efficient triple-glazed windows were installed; before the cement for the 33,000-gallon rainwater cistern was poured; before the drought resistant shrubbery and flowers were planted — long before all that, The Wyeth was an aging Roman Catholic school in need of a complete to-the-studs demolition.

As an adaptive reuse project with a steadfast focus on sustainability, we were faced with a unique construction question. What’s to be done with all the demolition material? Partnering with a local Cambridge company named GreenGoat, our contractor was able to recycle 88% of the materials once destined for a landfill.

The majority of our apartments have either a balcony or private deck. The new, triple glazed windows are quiet, energy efficient and bright. The existing windows, although functional, did not meet LEED Platinum standards; so they were carefully removed and shipped to Haiti to assist in their rebuilding effort.

When you pull into The Wyeth’s Cambridge campus you’ll park your car in a private parking space just steps from your home. Your visitors will park only feet away in one of the many visitor spaces. You’ll spend time on the manicured front lawn grilling dinner, relaxing with a book and some music. You’ll unlock your bike from one of the on-site bike racks or take a visitor bike for a spin. You’ll exercise in The Wyeth’s gym, or schedule and host a meeting in our private conference room. You can even charge your electric car at a specialty Juice Bar charging station.
